A Rousing Little Newpaper Yarn
While this is NOT "The Front Page" it is a well-done and knowing little newspaper story written and directed by Norman Houston, who would go on to have a long career as a writer of mostly Westerns starring Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, and Tim Holt among many others.
The cast are all uniformly talented and for the most part are carryovers from the silent era. They make the whole thing shine and believable as well, which isn't easy with some of the more maudlin goings on to be sure.
This is from the time when "printers' ink" was really the lifeblood of this country and with it's fast pace and resolve is a winner. I liked it and maybe I'm wrong, but it deserves a look. Picture and sound quality are fine. Behind the cameras, the crew is also very competent including new producer Sig Neufeld, who would go on to be a "B" legend.
